Poland is the largest of the 10 countries joining EU on the 1st of May, 2004, and a member of NATO since 1999.
It is situated in Central Europe, bordering Germany, Slovakia, The Czech Republic, Ukraine, Belarus and Lithuania.
Warsaw (population 1.7 million, ranked 35th in Mercer’s survey on the most expensive cities in the world) is the capital and largest city, located on the Vistula River.
Krakow (population 760,000) is a leading center of cultural, artistic and scientific Polish life.
Gdansk (population 460,000) is Poland’s main seaport, and the forth largest city. While the local economy of the city is dominated by sea related industries, in the past few years, technical industries, such as engineering, electronics, telecommunication and IT have known a fast rise, making it a good choice for many important companies.
